Supported Education-Is it a Right?

The CAFE TA Center is pleased to announce the release of the latest issue of its newsletter, Supported Education: Is It A Right? Consumers of behavioral health services can gain enormous benefit from completing their education, but many consumers have questions about the process, especially when it comes to determining what an institution of higher learning is required to provide in terms of accommodations, and identifying the steps that consumers need to take for themselves to find the college or university with the right array of resources to help them succeed.

To help sort out some of the answers to these questions, the CAFE TA Center has highlighted the issue in the new Focus 7, Supported Education: Is It A Right? This issue lays out some of the legal requirements that go into Supported Education, including the IDEA, Section 504 and the ADA. It also draws distinctions between laws pertaining to K-12 education vs. those pertaining to higher education in a convenient chart. As always, we welcome your feedback!
