Changing Maine Directory

The sixth (2009) edition of the Changing Maine Directory is one of the best resources available for anyone involved with social action or social service programs in the state of Maine. It is available on the web at http://www.changingmaine.org/ and in print form as a 180-page directory.

It is an incredible compilation of information about nearly 1,500 nonprofit, mostly grassroots social action and social service groups addressing community problems and providing for the needs and well-being of people in Maine.

*For Organizations: You can use the Changing Maine Directory to identify other valuable resources in your area and/or groups doing similar work in other parts of Maine.
*For Social Service Providers: The Changing Maine Directory includes valuable referral information that persons you work with can utilize to help them resolve problems they face.
*For Individuals: The Changing Maine Directory is a great organizing and networking tool that can help you find like-minded people and groups or mobilize others to support the work you are doing.

Groups are listed in one of 34 categories, from "Animals" and ³Art, Music, and Culture² to "Youth" and including "Peace," "Health and Healing," "Environment," "Women," ³Racial and Ethnic Groups,² and "Justice." Each organization is listed with name and generally several ways it can be contacted (address, phone/fax number, email, and web site), and with a brief description of the goals and/or activities of the group.

YOU CAN HELP OTHERS LEARN ABOUT THIS RESOURCE BY:
*Forwarding or sending this notice to others in your group or to other e/mailing lists or to those in your address book;
*Posting this notice on your group¹s web site and/or on other social networking sites.
