What do we mean by a warm line?

Who answers the calls?

Peer supporters, all of whom have personal experience with mental illness and recovery, answer the calls. We hire individuals who have made significant gains in their own recovery. The staff of the Maine Warm Line have been there. They know firsthand the struggles of living with a mental illness. They can share their experience, wisdom, knowledge and empathy to those that call the warm line.

Expanded hours have been a long time coming.  Now with additional support from our funders, this long overdue and much needed resource is available to callers.  We are asking for your help in getting the word out to existing and new callers.

The Maine Warm Line handled more than 20,000 calls in the first year of operation, and we expect to exceed that number in our second year.

The Maine Warm Line does not replace existing services – it complements and supports them.  Warm Line callers have been very thankful for having a resource to take their call when traditional services are closed – and now we are able to extend this resource

Our new promotional material, once green with a large tree in the background is now blue with a nice lighthouse.  This was done to catch people’s attention to the change in hours.  We have posters, business cards and magnets.  Many of you may already have some of these materials, others may not.  Please contact me if you need any of our promotional materials.
