As we move into Spring and Summer things will not only warm up outside, they will heat up with respect to Affordable Care Act (ACA) implementation.  Health and Human Services (Federal) will start their awareness campaign about the Marketplaces (formerly known as Exchanges) leading up to the opening of enrollment on October 1 and our State will grapple with the issue of Medicaid (MaineCare) eligibility changes.  After years of planning, we are less than 8 months away from the most profound change to our health coverage system of our lifetimes.

To help you understand what’s going on now and what’s to come, we’ve prepared the two attached documents for you:

  • A two page overview of the ACA with a focus on current implementation issues
  • A one page review of why the full implementation of the new Medicaid eligibility rules is a good idea for Maine
